I
bought my first Siamese thirty years ago.

I had always
been in love
with the Siamese breed, partly due to its people oriented character and heavenly
blue eyes.
Unfortunately, one of my children turned out to be allergic for any
number of things including, yes, you guessed it,Siamese cats and so
after long serious and deliberate consideration, we decided, that we would
probably have to keep the child.

After
the children had grown up
and and left home, we sprung at the chance to,
once again, have the pleasure of a Siamese in our lives. Well, we quickly
made that two Siamese, after all, they are such social creatures. Then yet
another one because, well, they are just so
delightful. Then we thought it
would be so nice to let them have one nest, before they were sterilised,
etc. etc. etc.

We
are now a few years further and have discovered that the breeding of Siamese
cats is much more complex than meets the eye.
It
is so important for everybody and for the animals that the
Siamese breeder makes
a study of the pedigrees, genetics, recessive and dominant inheritance
and many other factors that pertain to a healthy continuation of a
breeding
Siamese line. This has become our
priority.

We
do not show our
Siamese
cats, we don't have to, they know that they come from the
best lines, out of America, Finland, Denmark, Germany and England, but then
there is also the fact that we are probably just too lazy to get up early
on a Sunday morning, follow country roads to some remote location and wait
hours to be judged. Either way both we and the Siamese
like it this way.

However,
having Siamese
kittens
is always a joy and also the people that we meet who
buy a Siamese
kitten and stay in contact, even after many years, often becoming very
good friends of ours. It’s nice!
We
also are aware, that not everybody is infected with this wonderful
virus
called Siamese,
and that some people ask “How many Siamese cats, did you say that you
have?" with a
look of astonishment.

Fortunately,
we are now at an age where we don't really care what they think.
It’s
our life and we like it this way and we hope for many more such years
together with our cats.
